What point is Jesus making when He states eternal life is knowing the Father and Jesus Christ?
Eternal life is to know Jesus and God the Father and as long as we repent and live accordingly to what God wants us to be, we will live an eternal life with Jesus and God. By: Kathleen Terado - February 25, 2007 - Public Category: Jesus Prays for Himself

Jesus is saying that He and His Father are ONE. If you accept Jesus into your heart as the Son of God and believe that He sacrificed Himself on the cross so that your sins would be forgiven by God Almighty, then you are given eternal life. Jesus said these
things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son
may also glorify you; even as you gave him authority
over all flesh, he will give eternal life to all whom you have given him.
This is eternal life,
that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus
Christ. I glorified you
on the earth. I have accomplished the work which you have given me to do.
Now, Father, glorify me
with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world
existed.
